Remote Learning Announcement

August 28, 2020

Dear Families:

We hope you and your loved ones are doing well. We also miss seeing all of you. Thank you for your patience and flexibility through all of this.  We are announcing that we will remain remote online for the rest of this semester.

This was a very difficult decision. We made this decision based on additional factors. 1. Some of our staff members are at risk and are not able to work in person with students or other adults so because our school size is relatively small even missing one person impacts the entire school community. 2. This summer, a small group of us came in to measure for social distance  planning and discovered our facility is not conducive to bring in half the student body for 2 days a week in the space we have. The square footage of our building is a little over 18,000 and the classroom spaces could only accommodate 9 students on average to maintain an adequate social distance.

We are committed to support you and your students through this challenging time by continuing to provide the technology and support you will need throughout this semester. We will also continue to provide weekly meals each Wednesday from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.  We will also monitor your student’s social emotional learning through this crisis.  One additional support we are offering is extended learning time to help address learning loss. This means we will add 10 additional days of instruction to your students calendar year this year. Please mark the following dates as instructional days:

Monday, September 7

Thursday, October 8

Friday, October 9

Friday, October 30

Wednesday, November 25

Monday, January 18

Monday, February 15

Thursday, February 18

Friday, April 2

Monday, May 24

We will have a 3 week Winter Break, December 21-January 8, and a one week Spring break which will be March 22-26.

Please feel free to call us with any questions at 505-967-4720.  Be well and stay safe!
