Math

TANM's middle school math program is for grades 6 - 8. All classes are created using the Common Common Core State Standards. Students work with math in a variety of modalities in order to help learn the curriculum. In 6th and 7th grade, students focus on the following domains: Rratios & Proportional Relationships, The Number System, Expressions & Equations, and Geometry, Statistics & Probability. The domains of 8th grade are: The Number System, Expressions & Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics & Probability.
 
The TANM high school math program follows a traditional sequence for grades 9-11: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 using Reveal Math by McGraw Hill. Seniors take Financial Literacy to fulfill the state requirements. Students, grades 10 through 12, have the opportunity to take additional math courses at CNM through our Dual Credit Program. These students are encouraged to take math courses that will earn college credit towards a degree program of the student's choice. 
 
At TANM, we strive to help students become logical thinkers and to experience growth in their math skills. The Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 classes at TANM are taught using multimodal techniques that provide students time and space to develop and internalize new math vocabulary and concepts with their peers through game-like activities. High School students at TANM are taught how to read mathematics, how to think logically about the strategies and techniques they use to problem-solve, and how to analyze their results in order to determine if they are reasonable both in terms of number sense and in the context of real-world situations. Through this approach, we help all students at all levels to build self-confidence and strengthen their abilities as they prepare for the future.
